This is what makes our game legal in Denver, Colorado
Under Colorado State Law there are three things that must be upheld at all times to maintain its legality
The game is incidental to a bona fide social relationship, (we are friends)
No person is participating, directly or indirectly, in professional gambling (no professional players)
No one profits from the event directly by raking the pot or indirectly by selling items to players. (all cash must be paid out in prizes)

We play a $40 tournament every Tuesday at 8pm. There are usually around 20 players, top 3 split the pot 50% 30% 20%. We collect an extra $10 from all the players whom want to participate in the League and have their score counted. We keep a running tally of everyone’s score and at the end of the year the top 5 point leaders get a $1000 WSOP Bracelet Event Seat. If one of our members cashes in the WSOP event 35% of the cash will get split equally between the non cashing members and the winner keeps 65%!
We had 2 different players cash for approximately $2000 in each of our first 2 seasons returning about $600 back to the rest of the group both times. Each non-
A 6 pack of beer and a sub sandwich to get you through the night = $14
Playing in a poker league with the best bunch of guys in the world each week = $50
Flying to Vegas for a week of poker playing with the same bunch of great guys = $800
Representing that great bunch of guys in a bracelet event at the World Series of Poker = PRICELESS
